The Low FODMAP diet is the Life Changing Diet

The featured photograph represents the life changing difference a Low FODMAP diet can make to an IBS sufferer. Previously I would never consider putting myself in a position where I couldn’t access a toilet immediately but eliminating high FODMAP foods has opened up a new world to me and I’ve got a new found passion for cycling.

…..I realised I was holding my family back, not wanting to venture out and if you read my story on the bum diaries blog website you’ll know that this bothered me so much I knew I had to take action. Over a year I learnt to trust my Low FODMAP diet and set myself challenges outside my comfort zone. This photo represents one of those.

In the month of March my son and I (the handsome young guy in the photo AKA The Blue Bat) signed up with @raceatyourpace for 50 miles of cycling. That may not seem a lot to some but to me thats 50 miles away from the safety of the toilet! What I found is that the challenge was motivating and whilst cycling I didn’t even think about my gut or the toilet! My longest ride in March was 16 miles down an old railway track, it was remote and beautiful. I felt so successful and proud of myself for wanting to venture.
As you can see we completed the challenge received our medals which we love.

I enjoyed the challenge so much I signed up for 100 miles in April and achieved them!

I’m still on a journey but now I’m excited to see where it will take me. If you got to the end….thank you so much reading x
